For the rapid reduction of severely elevated phosphate levels
Excessive phosphate concentrations in the water often lead to reduced growth of corals and aquatic plants, as well as unwanted algae growth. Therefore, the phosphate concentration in the aquarium should always be monitored and maintained within an optimal range for the respective organisms. In coral reef aquariums, the optimal phosphate range is between 0.02 and 0.1 mg/l. If phosphates have accumulated in the aquarium water due to food, nutrient additions, or coral debris, it is sometimes necessary to quickly lower the phosphate concentration back to the recommended levels.
Tropic Marin ® ELIMI-PHOS RAPID is a highly effective lanthanum-based solution that instantly binds phosphates and effectively removes them from the water. Phosphate concentrations can be reduced to between 0.2 and 0.4 mg/l within a short period of time. Water quality improves rapidly, corals brighten with new colors, and corals grow more vigorously.
Recommended use:
500 ml of ELIMI-PHOS RAPID binds approximately 5 g of phosphates, i.e. adding 10 ml to a 100 l aquarium reduces the phosphate concentration by up to 1 mg/l.
Measure the phosphate concentration in your aquarium and calculate the required amount of ELIMI-PHOS RAPID. We recommend reducing the phosphate concentration by a maximum of 0.1 mg/l per day. For example, a maximum of 1 ml of ELIMI-PHOS RAPID should be added per 100 liters of water per day. Every organism needs small amounts of phosphate. Therefore, reducing the phosphate level to 0.00 mg/l is not advisable and should be taken into account when using ELIMI-PHOS RAPID. In saltwater aquariums, 0.02–0.15 mg/l of phosphate is recommended; in reef aquariums, 0.02–0.1 mg/l of phosphate is considered optimal.
Phosphate reduction should ideally be carried out in a filter tank with a mechanical filter in front of a skimmer, which completely removes the precipitated phosphates from the system. Dropwise addition using a dosing pump is optimal. Please also check the carbonate hardness. When using ELIMI-PHOS RAPID, a slight decrease in carbonate hardness may occasionally occur. In this case, increase the carbonate hardness with Tropic Marin ® Triple buffer back to the original value.
