IOD - Lugol's solution for marine aquaristics
No other trace element has been described as having such diverse effects as iodine: As a component of the thyroid hormone, iodine prevents goiter formation in fish. It is necessary for the molting of crabs and is involved in the hardening of their chitinous shells. Coralline algae incorporate iodine into their surface structure, and gorgonians incorporate it into their axial skeleton. Brown algae also significantly accumulate the trace element.
Experiments have shown that Tropic Marin ® Iodine It greatly improves the light adaptation and coloration of anthocyanins, especially stony corals. Since a natural supply of trace elements is not guaranteed in saltwater aquariums, iodine should be added regularly. Tropic Marin ® Iodine contains iodine in its most effective form: as elemental I 2 in a Lugol's solution.
Tropic Marin ® Iodine contains potassium iodide and iodine.
Give one drop daily Tropic Marin ® Iodine per 200 liters of aquarium volume, near a circulation pump. If a daily dose is missed, skip that dose. Missed doses must not be added together.
The iodine requirement increases with the stocking density of the aquarium. In densely populated aquariums, the dosage can be increased to the maximum dosage.
Maximum dosage: A dosage of 2 drops per 200 l of aquarium water daily should not be exceeded.
